These are a wonderful pair of Bookends cast in solid bronze and depicting the Robert Burns Cottage.
Burns Cottage, the first home of Robert Burns is located in Alloway, South Ayrshire, Scotland.
It was built by his father in1757.
Burns, Scotland's national poet, was born there.
The cottage is carefully cast in detail and very nice patina was applied as a finish.
These are not marked but the stipple on the back is indicative of work produced by the UK national Trust in the 1930’s.
At that time they made bronze bookends of many historical architectural sites in the UK.
This pair has survived the last 90 or so years in remarkable condition.
The Burns Cottage is a rare find that would delight lovers of Architecture, Poetry, or Anglophiles.
Remember; Bookends also hold back doors, CD's, DVD's, Napkins, you name it!
These measure 4” wide, by 2” deep, by 3.75” tall.
My Items are as found.
Please look carefully at the pictures and request additional pictures or specific information if needed.
There is age-appropriate wear, but otherwise, they are in very good vintage condition.
Please use the pictures as the best description of condition.
Questions are always welcome.
